2017 Annual General Meeting & Convention  

The 2017 A.G.M. was held February 20-26, 2017 at Norway House,MB.


More about our conventions:

Our AGM is  held at various locations throughout Manitoba, this gives trappers from all areas of the province an opportunity to attend.

In recent years the AGM has been held in towns such as Ashern, Dauphin, Swan River, Lac du Bonnet, Thompson, The Pas, Eriksdale and Roblin.

Requirements for hosting the AGM include availability of a large hall or facility, adequate motel accommodation, restaurants, catering, local interest and support.


  • Open house Friday evening, live music, door prizes both days
  • Pelt preparation competitions for junior and senior trappers
  • Resolutions to government
  • Pelting and boarding demos
  • Trap sales
  • Contests
  • Live & rainbow auction
  • Elections for Zone Directors
  • Board of Directors meetings
  • Presentation of audited financial statement
  • Updates from Manitoba Conservation on trapping initiatives
  • Banquet, guest speaker and awards presentations

              James Spence Memorial Award for Local Fur Council
              Top Junior Trapper – Doug Lubkiwski Memorial Award
              Top Senior Trapper – high score in pelt competition

Trappers hear updates on new initiatives and policies from government and Industry. The audited financial report for the previous year is presented during the annual meeting.

Resolutions from trappers and Local Fur councils on trapping and fur related issues are submitted for discussion.

Not all the Convention is business;

  • Meet & greet with trappers and friends from other areas,
  • As time permits, contests such as goose and moose calling take place,
  • Approved traps and supplies for sale throughout the event,
  • Pelting & boarding demonstrations to improve fur handling techniques,
  • Fur Auction House representatives report on market conditions and fur prices,
  • Informational displays and craft tables depending on space available.
